Whether plastics, paper and board, nonwovens and textiles or paints and varnishes, Mundex offers industry partners from a wide range of sectors tailor-made solutions for biocide-free antimicrobial finishing of surfaces/products. Mundex formulations are completely biodegradable and are largely based on naturally renewable raw materials. This makes them environmentally friendly and avoids "microplastics", which are causing increasing damage to nature worldwide.
Nonwovens and textiles
With Mundex, even soft surfaces such as nonwovens and textiles can be treated antimicrobially and biocide-free. Conventional application methods such as spraying, dipping, doctoring, foaming or padding are used. In this way, antimicrobial filter media (e.g. air or water filters) and textiles (e.g. mattresses and bedding) can be produced. An additional positive effect of Mundex products, e.g. for technical textiles, bedding, mattresses and shoe insoles: odour absorption.

Paper and cardboard
Paper and cardboard is difficult to clean, making it an ideal breeding ground for microorganisms. Mundex provides highly efficient, permanent and biocide-free protection against bacteria, viruses and moulds throughout the life of paper and board. Equipped with Mundex, paper or board can be used in many industries, e.g. as antimicrobial packaging, which also increases the shelf life of perishable food - completely without microplastics.

Paints and varnishes
Equipped with Mundex, paints and varnishes offer lasting protection against bacteria, viruses, mould and algae - without the use of toxic biocides. Even if Mundex is subsequently integrated into the industrial manufacturing process, all paint and varnish properties remain unchanged. Only one new property is added: when equipped with Mundex, lacquers and paints generally prevent the growth of microorganisms. Thus, they help to considerably improve the hygiene of products.

Plastics
Plastics and plastic compounds treated with Mundex offer lasting protection against bacteria, viruses, mould and algae without the use of toxic agents such as biocides. All Mundex formulations for plastics are almost completely biodegradable and based on naturally renewable raw materials. This also makes Mundex the ideal complement to compostable bioplastics, which are also based on natural resources and whose microparticles biodegrade within a few months.

There are many ways to make surfaces and products biocide-free and antimicrobial - and they are all called Mundex. For the production of permanently antimicrobial surfaces, the Mundex W, L, HS or B technologies are used, depending on the application and application method - or product formulations tailored on their basis.
